Dept. of Sustainability and Environment Output Performance Measures

The Department of Sustainability and Environment is Victoria's primary government agency responsible for promoting and managing the sustainability of the natural environment.

The Department's primary functions are:
• public land stewardship across forests, parks, coasts, alpine resorts and Crown land reserves;
• promotion of sustainable resource use and management practices by industry and the general community;
• public land fire management;
• water management;
• ecosystem and biodiversity conservation; and
• environmental and climate change policy.

The Department's objectives and linked outputs are grouped into Effective Water Management and Supply, Effective Management of Victoria's Land Assets, Effective Environmental and Climate Change Policy, Investment and Regulation, and Effective Management of Fire.
