Key Ages and Stages consultations are provided within the Maternal and Child
Health Universal Service, and include 10 Key Ages and Stages consultations for
each child, from birth to 3.5 years including an initial home visit and
consultations at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 4 months, 8 months, 12 months, 18
months, two years and 3.5 years of age for all children and their families.
At each consultation, the parent/carer is given an opportunity to discuss
their concerns, talk about parenting experiences and learn how to improve the
child’s health, growth and development. Key Ages and Stages consultations are
one-on-one consultations with the child and their family.
Participation rates for Key Ages and Stages consultations are based on the
number of children who were provided with a Key Age and Stage consultation, as
a percentage of the number of children enrolled for the age group.
