Mount Alexander Shire Council election results 2012

Preferential voting is used in State Legislative Assembly (Lower House) elections. It ensures that the most preferred candidate(s) are elected. If a voter's preferred candidate is not able to achieve the margin required for victory, then their vote can be counted for their next preferred candidate.
