Strategic Levee Categorisation Combined Levee Lines

The Strategic Levee Categorisation Project 2025 was commissioned to provide improved flood intelligence for managing levees located in Victoria, north of the Great Dividing Range. Specifically, the project aims to:

  • Identify and categorise levees based on the category definitions adopted for the project;
  • Identify those levees including temporary levees which require works ahead of an impending flood and the nature of those works;
  • Prepare additional content for Municipal Flood Emergency Plans in order to provide respondents with an improved understanding of flooding and possible actions in light of known levees. Project was completed November 2025, covering area of GBCMA, NCCMA, NECMA, and MCMA.
